Doha is the main hub for Qatar Airways and a place where thousands of people make a transit each day. My recent trip to Singapore had an 11 hour layover in Doha. I decided to sleep at the Crowne Plaza Doha Business Park. It’s located not far from the airport so that I could relax and sleep as long as possible. The hotel is also a perfect spot to explore more of Doha or Qatar. In this review I show you why the Crowne Plaza Doha Business Park is a good choice for a layover or a stopover.
The Crowne Plaza Doha Business Park is just three years old and located in the heart of the business district. It takes just a 20 minute drive from the hotel to the airport. I’m not a morning person but I woke up at 04:50 and at 05:40 I passed security and made it to the business lounge of Qatar Airways. That’s just 50 minutes for shower, checkout, taxi, security (my luggage was checked already to Singapore) and walking to the lounge. If that isn’t convenient if you have just 11 hours between flights? I was able to swim, see the bar and have dinner AND get a 7 hour sleep. The hotel is also perfectly located for a longer stay with the main attractions just a short distance away. There are 7 floors which are around a huge open space. In the middle the elevators go up and give a nice view on the inside. Everything is decorated like you would expect from a business & leisure hotel.
The rooms at Crowne Plaza Doha
I booked a king-size bedroom and got upgraded to a premier suite due to my status in the IHG Program. I suggest everyone to enroll in this program to receive nice upgrades and earn points for future benefits. The premier suite was large with a huge hall and separate toilet. A living room with couches, dinner table and a large desk. The bedroom could be closed which is nice if you would have business guest over for meetings in the living room. In the bedroom there is another working desk and a comfortable large king-size bed. The bathroom is accesable from the bedroom with separate rainforest shower and a bath. With the second toilet in the hall a guest doesn’t need to go to the private area of the suite. A room which I wouldn’t mind spending more as the 11 hours I did. It had all the facilities, if not more, I need in a room.
Facilities at Crowne Plaza Doha
As I wrote above the Crowne Plaza Doha Business Park is suitable not only for business but for leisure as well. There is a pretty large roof top pool which for sure is larger than I have seen in various leisure hotels. The pool bar and restaurant are a perfect place to spend the evening with the family. One level lower on the 7th floor is the gym and SPA. I preferred to sleep as I was tired but did have a look at the SPA and it looked professional. The hotel offers also apartments for long stays. The usual business facilities are also present which I personally didn’t use during my stay. The facilities are extensive and I loved the rooftop pool.
Dining & Drinking at Crowne Plaza Doha
The Crowne Plaza Doha Business Park offers three restaurants and two bars. There is an all-day dining restaurant in the middle of the hotel in the atrium. The Brazilian restaurant serves meat, the best meat. I unfortunately already had dinner but this kind of restaurant is my favorite. Then there is the pool restaurant and bar. Next to the Brazilian restaurant is a Brazilian bar. A shisha bar is located next to the all-day dining restaurant on the terrace outside. Altogether there are a lot of dining options. I must return and try the Brazilian restaurant for sure!
The Crowne Plaza Doha Business Park is a great business hotel as the name says but also suitable for leisure. With just a 20 minute drive from the airport it’s also a perfect hotel for a layover or a longer stopover. It has a beautiful large rooftop pool and a wide variety of restaurants. I liked it, and I must return to try the Brazilian meat. If you are looking for a hotel in Doha near the airport for a layover then I can recommend the Crowne Plaza Doha Business Park. I also recommend it if you are visiting Qatar for leisure, the only thing it misses is a beach. I hope you enjoy your stay as I did.
