USA - Visiting Death Valley? Use the Holiday Inn Express Pahrump as your starting point

Death Valley is an amazing place with landscapes you can’t imagine, it looks like another world. I visited Death Valley during my west coast road trip recently. I stayed in Pahrump, Nevada, which is a short drive away from the entrance to Death Valley. The Holiday Inn Express Pahrump is the place to stay and in this review I’ll show you why. First, let’s start with a short video impression.

The hotel

The Holiday Inn Express Pahrump just opened its doors in autumn 2015. It’s a modern Holiday Inn Express, but the concept is the same as in any other. Free breakfast, fast free internet, friendly staff and a good location. Just over 30 minutes’ drive from Death Valley and about 90 minutes from Las Vegas. The hotel is located in the center of Pahrump with casinos within walking distance. Vouchers for discounts are provided at check-in, but I don’t gamble so I didn’t use them. The day of arrival I had a flat tire in Death Valley, which wasn’t funny at all, but the staff made my day. The staff assisted me by contacting the rental company so I didn’t need to use my foreign roaming phone. Very friendly and a great start of my stay. My room was on the second floor, the hotel has three, in a corner which was very quiet. I enjoyed the stay a lot together with my daughter who was travelling with me. You might have seen her in the video above.

The rooms at Holiday Inn Express Pahrump

The rooms of the Holiday Inn Express Pahrump are, as the hotel, modern and spacious. I booked a double room so that I would have a bed for me and one for my daughter. They are comfortable and large enough for tall persons too. The bathroom has a bath, which must be used for showering too. My daughter loves to take a bath before sleeping so that was perfect. In the same time, I would work and fast internet and the working desk were a must for me. All amenities are present but if you forgot something the staff is happy to provide what you need. The room is decorated with light soft colors with green accents and has two flat screen TV’s. I spend most time in Death Valley but the room has a small lounge area as well. The kitchenette with fridge, microwave and sink is perfect to heat up a quick meal. I had a lovely time with my daughter and I cannot think of anything the room didn’t have.

Facilities at Holiday Inn Express Pahrump

The Holiday Inn Express Pahrump has an outdoor swimming pool which is really nice after a day hiking in 50+ degrees Celsius. Death Valley IS hot. The gym is indoor with good air-conditioning and has plenty of professional equipment. During a road trip I don’t need to stay at resorts that’s why the Holiday Inn Express brand is my preferred brand. They are so efficient and always offer the standard I need.

Dining & Drinking at Holiday Inn Express Pahrump

The concept of Holiday Inn Express normally doesn’t include a restaurant, which was also the case at the Holiday Inn Express Pahrump. I love meat, so I asked the hotel staff where I could go for dinner to have a juicy steak. They told me to go to Symphony’s Restaurant & Winery which indeed was a good choice. They served a perfect juicy steak and accompanying wines. In the morning the hotel serves an express breakfast with a wide choice of options. My daughter likes cereals so she had cereals, yoghurt and a pancake made by the press of a button. I’m more into eggs, maybe a bit of bacon, and some bread. I also need juice and a good coffee. It’s all there at the buffet so I started with lots of new energy to explore the Death Valley.
