INDONESIA - Hard Rock Hotel Bali: a rocking good resort

I would spend the last two nights of the road trip through Indonesia with my daughter at the Hard Rock Hotel Bali. My daughter is a big fan of Hard Rock Café so when she found out there was a hotel on Bali it was decided we would stay. It’s a great hotel to just relax and get away from daily life. Perfectly located in the Kuta area of Bali just off the beach. In this hotel review I show you around the Hard Rock Hotel Bali but first let’s start with a video impression.

The hotel

The Hard Rock Hotel Bali is a large property just off Kuta Beach. If you are not familiar with the Hard Rock (Hotel or Café) concept then there is even more reason to stay. The hotels look is inspired by rock stars from the second half of the 20th century. You will see memorabilia and images everywhere throughout the resort. I loved the location of the Hard Rock Hotel Bali. It’s situated in the middle of the shopping and nightlife district of Kuta Beach. When I arrived my room was already prepared making the late check-in very pleasant and quick. The rooms are located in four different wings. I only slept in the room, there was so much to do during the three days I stayed that I didn’t have time to be in the room except sleeping. Let me show you around this large property.

The rooms at Hard Rock Hotel Bali

My room at the Hard Rock Hotel Bali was located in wing 2. This meant I had also access to the more private, but smaller, pool located between wing 2 and 3. The room had a comfortable king size bed which was not too soft; I love it a bit firm. Just before the windows is a place to sit and opposite the bed a working desk. Ok, I lied a bit above that I didn’t do anything else in the room than sleeping. When my daughter went to bed I got some work done on my notebook. Never not working! The colors where bright with whites and various tones of warm reds. The bathroom had a large bathtub in which you could also shower. As it was large this was not annoying at all. I never like those small tubs in which you have to shower at some other hotels. The amenities in the bathroom are of good quality and sufficient; I never bring my own shampoo when I travel. In the room there is a good stocked mini-bar and a Nespresso machine. Being able to make a coffee in the room makes a stay just a bit more pleasant. Altogether a great comfortable room.

Facilities at Hard Rock Hotel Bali

The main facilities at the Hard Rock Hotel Bali are the huge freeform pool and the SPA. Other facilities include of course the Hard Rock Shop, rock climbing, fitness center and various kids’ facilities. My daughter is 10 years old so we didn’t need to use it. She could swim herself as here in the Netherlands we teach kids to swim when they are 3 years old. The pool is amazing with even a small beach in the middle. Various slides kept my daughter busy for a long time; watch the video! The Rock Spa offers relaxing treatments. I went for an hour’s Balinese massage which really made me unwind after the stressful day before. The day before I climbed with my daughter the Ijen Volcano (on Java) in the middle of the night. This was pretty tough as it was a bit raining and our clothes got cold and wet. The Balinese massage took all muscle stress away. I do recommend making an appointment in advance as the Rock Spa is very popular and agenda’s can get filled up quickly. A huge pool and professional SPA was what I was looking for these last two days of the Indonesian road trip. The Hard Rock Hotel Bali offered this.

Dining & Drinking at Hard Rock Hotel Bali

Dining and drinking. There are so many options at the Hard Rock Hotel Bali. This and the fact that the hotel is located in the middle of the entertainment district around Kuta Beach made it also perfect to go out at night. I didn’t make it to the Hard Rock Café Bali but I did visit the cafés of Phuket, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta earlier this trip. In the middle of the pool is The Shack where you can sit at the bar in the water. The perfect place to cool down from the heat while having a cocktail. Just next to the pool you can have lunch or dinner at Splash Bistro. I had a BBQ dinner there the first night. I love meat so this buffet was a must visit for me. Another option is to have dinner at Starz Diner where a buffet is served daily. Breakfast is also served at the Starz Diner. The choices are large and there is a noodle and egg station. I just need two eggs sunny side up each day when I travel OR a fresh spicy noodle soup. At the Hard Rock Hotel Bali both were prepared fresh. In the evening the center stage is the place to go with live music. Then, last but not least, there is the Jamie’s Italian Bali restaurant. An Italian restaurant with a Jamie Oliver twist. I had lunch there with my daughter and we loved it. Everything is fresh and the quality so good. I highly recommend going there if you are on Bali. With all the different dining and drinking options you won’t get bored even if you stay a week or two. I’m sure of that.

Conclusion

If you are planning a visit to Bali and are looking for a hotel in the Kuta Beach area then I recommend staying at the Hard Rock Hotel Bali. The central location in the entertainment and shopping district is just perfect to go out during the day or night. A huge freeform pool will keep you busy all day. In case you do get bored then the professional SPA can make you unwind and relax. If you like beaches you can go to Kuta Beach just across the street. The Hard Rock Hotel Bali has plenty of dining and drinking options of which I highly recommend the BBQ buffet, Jamie’s Italian and the center stage for late night entertainment. Altogether the Hard Rock Hotel Bali is a perfect resort to relax and unwind. My daughter loved the place too and she hopes to return one day, as do I. I’m sure you will enjoy too.
