If you like to stay at hotels that are one of a kind than the Intercontinental Global Center in Chengdu is a hotel you will like. The last two nights of my annual three week trip with my son (12) I stayed at this indoor luxury resort to relax for the last two days. Read on and explore the hotel with me!

The hotel

The Intercontinental Global Center Chengdu is just a 20 minute drive from the airport and a similar drive with affordable taxis downtown. The metro system stops direct in front of the Global Center which will take you anywhere in downtown too. The hotel lobby is huge with a huge chandelier on the ceiling in the shape of the Hibiscus flower of Chengdu. But wait, the lobby isn’t huge at all compared to the Global Center building, the biggest building in the world in respect to floor size. The lobby gives access to the huge inside of the Global Center where over 3 of the sides the 900+ guestrooms are situated. At various places you find Mediterranean details like the light blue, wall paintings and more. The hotel can call itself for sure an indoor luxury urban resort with access to many pools, a waterpark, shopping malls and much more! You will have many WOW moments, guaranteed!

The rooms at Intercontinental Global Center

The rooms are located around the waterpark and swimming pools. Every room has a Mediterranean balcony with a view over the Paradise Island Water Park. The rooms have a spacious rest area with a working desk. We stayed at a suite which offered a separate living & dining room. The beds are very comfortable with a range of pillows for you to choose from. The en suite bathroom with bubble bath in our suite had a separate shower and was very spacious. Amenities in the bathroom are of outstanding quality. The rooms are well designed for you to enjoy when not exploring the resort. You will enjoy for sure, we did and didn’t want to leave!

Facilities at Intercontinental Global Center

The facilities at the Intercontinental Global Center Chengdu are endless! With the indoor Paradise Island Water Park next door, for which access is included for the guests, and various swimming pools you will not get bored. Work out at the gym with a view over the gardens or go to the high class spa for a relaxing massage. If you like to go shopping than this is also the right place for you. With the New Century mall next door with a wide range of shops you should be able to find what you are looking for. I liked the fact that everything is integrated in this urban resort so that we could make the most of our time.

Dining & Drinking at Intercontinental Global Center

During my stay we tried several of the outlets offered by the hotel. The Paradise Island Café offers all day dining. A great selection of a la carte dishes and an International buffet in the evening. We particularly liked the sea food and the various meat dishes. The Chinese restaurant serves great Cantonese and Sichuan dishes. I’m a fan of the spicy Sichuan dishes, so I just had to try them! I added also club lounge access to the stay so that in the morning I could have breakfast in a quiet area and in the evening enjoy the cocktail hour. Around the hotel you will find enough places to have a drink, a snack or just relax. Everything is of high quality as you may expect from a hotel like this. I highly recommended to try the food plus the fact that you enjoy all the water at the same time.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a great hotel in Chengdu you are at the right address here! It’s a luxury urban resort with fun for the whole family. Take a looping in the waterpark, it’s awesome. With easy access to the airport and downtown cultural sights make the location perfect. If you are the first time in Chengdu, go to the panda sanctuary to hold a panda. The hotel concierge can help you arrange it. I highly recommend this hotel, and I hope to be back soon myself. Enjoy!
